1. Chupke Chupke
Chupke Chupke is a masterpiece by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. A story about a recently-married professor of botany who pulls a prank to introduce himself to his brother-in-law and how one prank leads to another, resulting in a series of comic events.
Amitabh and Dharmendra team up together once again after Sholay to deliver another sterling performance as a team well supported by Om Prakash, Sharmila, and Jaya Bachchan.
2. Bawarchi
Another masterpiece by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the film revolves around the relationship of a squabbling Sharma family and their new cook who has appeared out of blue as an answer to their all prayers. Rajesh Khanna steals the show with a brilliant, amusing lead role as the gushing Bawarchi.
"It is so simple to be happy but it is so difficult to be simple" this quote from the movie, is gonna stay with you for a very long time.
3. Angoor
This Indian version of "Comedy of Errors" is directed by Gulzar and acting of Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma is a class in its own. Angoor movie nicely highlights the similarities between Indian humor and that of Shakespeare. Even though the idea of "twin confusion" has been exploited again and again in Bollywood, Angoor comes up with fresh humor and perfect for all age groups to share a laugh.
4. Khatta Meetha
Directed by Basu Chatterjee, this timeless classic is inspired by "Yours, Mine, and Ours(1968)". The film has talents like Ashok Kumar, Rakesh Roshan all together and will make you believe in the power of love and family. The track "Thoda hai thode ki jarurat hai", by Kishore Da beautifully summarises the story of every middle-class family.
5. Chhoti Si Baat
Undoubtedly, one of the funniest Hindi films of all time, Amol Palekar plays Arun, a diffident simpleton and a daydreamer who likes a girl from a neighboring office but isn't able to confess his love, along with Amol Palekar we have Vidya Sinha with Ashok Kumar, Amol Palekar and Asrani. This movie is a must for everyone who likes classic clean comedy.
6. Naram Garam
We couldn't stop ourselves from finishing this list without mentioning the iconic duo of Utpal Dutt and Amol Plaekar. Under the direction of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Naram Garam is a story of a rich widower, Bhavani Shankar (Utpal Dutt) and his unmarried employee, Ram Prasad (Amol Palekar). Bhavani Shankar is a miser but at the same time highly superstitious. Events turn hilarious when three men fall in love with the same girl.
