On Rajkumar Rao's birthday here's a rollercoaster ride of his films.

Shahid

Rajkumar Rao’s so far best performance to date is in the film Shahid. The film received critical acclaim for its gripping storyline and incredible acting by Rajkumar Rao. He portrayed the role of Shahid Azmi, a lawyer who was assassinated in 2010. His impressive performance made him won Filmfare Best Actor Critics Choice Award and National Award for Best Actor.



Trapped

Yet again Rajkumar Rao steals the show with his scintillating performance in the movie Trapped. The film had a crisp narrative where Rao played the role of a helpless person Shaurya who gets trapped in a flat. He gave worth standing ovation performance. He earnestly portrayed the eagerness to get out of the flat.



Chittagong

After working in a modern age drama film, Rao had chosen the role of a freedom fighter in the period war flick Chittagong. His character in the movie was small, but even in his short presence Rao pulled off his role brilliantly well.



Kai Po Che

Again Rao opted for a different character respective to his previous films. In the movie Kai Po Che, he played the role of a geek boy who dreams of expanding his sports business into a big one. The film is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Three Mistakes of My Life. Rao yet again gave stellar performances in the movie.



Queen

After playing a few different and intense characters, Rao then went on playing a conservative jilt lover in the film Queen. Though the film was all about Rani played by Kangana Ranaut, but Rao gave a remarkable performance in a few scenes he had.



Citylights

Rajkumar Rao with every passing film, his acting graph also reached excellence. Another brilliance performance from Rao in the movie Citylights, where he played the character of Deepak a family man who lives in poverty due to unfavorable situations. The film fraternity and audiences went on appreciating his impeccable acting skills.



Love Sex Aur Dhokha

Dibankar Banerjee's directorial venture film Love, Sex Aur Dhoka was based on the plot of voyeurism and Indian media. Rajkumar Rao played the role of Adarsh a greedy man who uses sex to clear off his debts. First-ever film in Hindi cinema to be shot in found footage style. Rajkumar Rao needs to be appreciated for choosing such kind of roles in his debut.



Hamari Adhuri Kahani

Rao again proved his versatility with his choice of role in film Hamari Adhuri Kahani. He played the role of a criminal who was part of a terrorist group. His acting was gripping, and his multiple roles showed the various stages of a man’s life.



Aligarh

Rajkumar Rao again chooses to play a different character in the film Aligarh. He portrayed the role of a Delhi-based reporter in the movie. Bollywood fraternity and critics appreciated Rajkumar Rao’s phenomenal and superlative performance in this movie.



Ragini MMS

Rao’s acting has some maturity which is evident and seen in the roles he plays. In the film Ragini MMS, Rao played an impulsive and freaky insensitive apathetic nature boy. His acting was sparkling in every measure of the film.



Omerta

Omerta is a biographical film of terrorist Omar Siddiqui who was the mastermind behind India’s Mumbai Attacks. How he comes to hate the world due to his religious motives forms the plot. Rajkummar Rao gained critical acclaim for his role as Omar Siddiqui.



Newton

Newton is the story of Newton Kumar, an officer in charge of conducting voting in tribal areas of Chhatisgarh. He is accompanied by an army officer who doesn’t want to get in his way but does so without knowing so.



Judgemental Hai Kya

Bobby is a girl with a troubled childhood and voice actor. She witnesses the murder of her neighbor by the hands of her husband but no one believes her. Later she also becomes delusional but all come rushing back when she encounters that same man as the husband of her cousin.



Bareilly ki Barfi

Chirag Dubey loves Bitti but could not tell her because of some situations. He contacts his friend Pritam Vidrohi to act as the writer of a book that Bitti loves and thinks that he has written it. But Chirag has written it. How they come together forms the plot of the film.



Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana

Helmed by Ratnaa Sinha, the film features Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda in the lead roles. Rao intensely played the role of a heartbroken IAS officer who is determined to prove his worth. He does a good job playing this role. The film is straight forward and the plot was simply uncomplicated. Overall, the film is a simple love story and a treat to watch.



Gangs of Wassepur 2

This is a film that requires no introduction but people may forget that Rajkumar Rao was a part of the cast. He manages to do well in a small role and shows that a good actor can even bring to a small role.



Stree

Stree was one of the most original unusual movies of 2018. Rajkumar's comic timing shines through again and he is very well supported by Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana. This film did very well at the Box office and became the highest grosser of Rao's career so far.
