Today, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the second time on coronavirus. In his second speech, Modi announces the complete lockdown across the country for 21 days.
"According to experts, social-distancing is only one thing to prevent yourself from the virus", PM Modi stated. Giving examples of the other countries, PM told about the seriousness of the pandemic. He advised everyone to take the lockdown and social-distancing seriously. He also warned the people about the consequences that the country has to face if things are not taken seriously.
"If we don't handle these 21 days well, then our country, your family will go backward by 21 years," he said. He asks state governments to follow the lockdown to contain the virus. This is time for patience and discipline, I appeal to you with folded hands to remember people putting their lives at risk for our safety
"The 21 days lockdown is to secure you and your family. The whole country will be locked down.", he said. "This lockdown is also similar to Janta Curfew with more strictness. The country has to face severe economic challenges because of the lockdown, but it is my duty to secure every citizen of this country", he added.
Centre has made an allocation of ₹15,000 crores to strengthen health infrastructure and fight the coronavirus. All necessary steps to ensure the supply of essential items will be taken care of by the center and state governments, says Modi.
